During Findlay’s Budget hearing this week, 17 department heads presented their budget requests for 2024. It was interesting to hear several departments talk about the costs that have increased in their departments due to the increasing immigrant population. Personally, I call them illegal immigrants – I’ll share the story of why later.
On December 5th, Mayor Christina Muryn informed City Council and the public that she will be taking charge as the “Cook in the kitchen” to manage the immigration population as increases in Findlay. In other words, our city borders are open. While residents in the city have many concerns, that does not seem to be a priority to the Mayor.
A court representative says he has seen an increase in the Haitian/Creole population and the language barrier has been a problem. Intepretations costs alone are up 224% due to the language barrier. Many he says are illiterate as well. While problems may have started with minor traffic violations, they are starting to see domestic violence, OVI’s and petty theft. Probation and monitoring are beginning to flood the courts. He also makes mention that some while some of the Haitian population has a drivers permit through the BMV, its not so for the hispanic population. This is the why I call them illegal immigrants.

These illegal immigrants, because they were brought in the back door and NOT the front door, do not understand the laws of our country. Not only are our courts being flooded with them, so are our Police Dept.’s, our non-profits and the entire system. Unvetted illegal citizens invading our city by invitation of Mayor Christina Muryn. I’m not sure what she had in mind, but its clear to me she is pushing the Socialist agenda.
I have many concerns about our city, and costs are just a few.
