Annexation to the city of Findlay was an interesting conversation.
Through the ARPA/SLFRF, cities were encouraged to support public health (Hancock Public Health), replace lost public sector revenue, and invest in water, sewer, & broadband infrastructure. They are encouraged to take advantage of the flexibilities as well.
I have a few questions:
1. Did any small businesses see any of these funds?
2. Are these funds being used to increase pensions for city employees in the amount of $1.75 million?
3. Is Hancock Public Health the organization that threatened to fine or close down small businesses for non-mask-wearing customers?
4. With Metronet broadband being installed everywhere and city power lines and grids being increased at a rapid pace, are we on a fast track to a Smart 15-minute city? Does annexation to the city of Findlay have anything to do with that?
5. Did you know the timeframe to apply for SLFRF monies is 3/3/21-12/31/24?
6. Does Findlay have a Recovery Performance Plan?
7. Does Findlay have specific SLFRF-funded projects? Would that include the $10-$40 million they are wanting to spend downtown or is that project funded by stakeholders and private investors?
8. In passing ordinances in the City of Findlay, the words “Declaring an Emergency” are often used. Why would the US Conference of Mayors encourage mayors to declare an emergency? Do these two things work hand in hand?
9. If I’m not mistaken, last year the city moved to call our electric meters “Smart” meters.
All of this to say . . . Does the Annexation have anything to do with putting our micropolitan city in the express lane to a “Smart” 15-minute city?
I think our local government is headed in the wrong direction.
It’s clear to me why the voices of the residents in Findlay aren’t being heard. It’s because the leaders have their own agenda.
I can see why people are hesitant about the annexation. Jump to 22 minutes on the video below for the questions and concerns.
I’m listening, Findlay, and I’m running to be the change we all want to see. Because what matters to YOU matters to ME.
VOTE! May 2nd.
