When I vote for someone, I don’t take peoples word when they say “Oh, he’s a good person” or “She’s a great gal”. There are many good people in this world, so while that may be true, it’s more important for me to find out the values and principles that a person stands on. I take the time to research candidates by checking their affiliations, looking at how they vote and viewing any social media posts. It’s important to me that I vote for someone that will represent my values. It’s equally as important that the people I vote for have a grasp of what is happening in the area in which they are running. I want to know that they are committed to understanding the task at hand. That’s why I support “The Regulars” that are running for City Council.
Kim Meador, Patricia (Patty) Klein, Danny DeLong, Randy Otermat and myself have all attended City Council meetings for a couple years. As I mentioned in my last post, the current Councilman refer to us as “The Regulars”. While we don’t belong in one group chat where we ask who will be attending the City Council meeting for the evening, upon seeing each other, we do smile and greet one another appreciating the fact that we continue to show up. Each of us as individuals is there for our own reason, and in some way it warms my heart to think that there are people just as concerned as I am. People that show up but also want to see change – these are the people running for City Council.
Leading up the May 6th primary, I would encourage you to do your research on candidates. Find out what their values are and where they stand when it comes to the trajectory of our city, because the last thing we need at City Council is another RUBBERSTAMP for Mayor Christina Muryn’s agenda. With a little research, I’m sure you’ll find out who “The Mayors Candidates” are. Selected candidates.
